Counseling Counters on Incorporating Foreign Human Resources with Specified Skills in Three Sectors in Manufacturing Industry Opened

Following on from FY2019, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) opened counseling counters for addressing requests for consultation from SMEs intending to incorporate foreign human resources with specified skills in the manufacturing industry and foreign residents working in the industry by taking advantage of the system for incorporating foreign human resources under the Revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.

1. Overview

METI has been operating the system for incorporating foreign human resources certified as Category 1 of the Specified Technical Skills under the system (hereinafter referred to as “foreign human resources with specified skills”) in three sectors in the manufacturing industry: [i] machine parts and tooling, [ii] industrial machinery manufacturing, and [iii] electric and electronic information-related sectors.

Following on from FY2019, METI opened counseling counters across Japan targeting (1) SMEs intending to incorporate foreign human resources with specified skills in their businesses and (2) foreign residents who have the status of residence of the Specific Skills in Category 1 or wish to obtain the status.

2. Counseling counters for SMEs

The following company will accept requests for consultation from SMEs concerning: SMEs’ approaches to supporting foreign human resources with specified skills in spending their daily lives in order to smoothly incorporate such human resources in their businesses; and details of the three sectors.

[i] Company name; [ii] address, [iii] telephone number; [iv] name (in kanji characters with hiragana for pronunciation), [v] the field in which you intend to incorporate such human resource (Note: Select one from the following options: A. machine parts and tooling, B. industrial machinery manufacturing, C. electric and electronic information-related sectors or D. Others) and [vi] details of consultation

The following counters will accept requests for face-to-face consultation. If you wish to make use of any of the counters, you are required to make a prior registration by calling one of the telephone numbers above. Please note that no counter will accept a request for consultation without prior registration.

Commissioned from METI, JTB Corp. opened counseling counters for companies on incorporating foreign human resources with specified skills in the manufacturing industry. Concerning approaches to personal information, the company will appropriately manage such information observing METI’s policy for protecting personal information and will use such information only for the purpose of operation of such counters.

3. Counseling counters for foreign residents working in the Manufacturing Industry

Counseling counters will accept requests for consultation concerning daily lives from foreign residents working in the Manufacturing Industry.
Note: If you are a foreign resident who has been providing any type of support measures through a Japanese company to which you belong or any registered support organization, etc., and who has a status other than the status of residence of the Specific Skills in Category 1 and if you have a request for consultation, contact any of the counseling counters for SMEs listed above.

The following counters will accept requests for face-to-face consultation. No prior registration is required. Available languages are Japanese, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Thai.
