Change in the Method of Calculating the Amount of Subsidies to be Paid to Companies under the “Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses”
May 8, 2020
On May 8 (Fri.), 2020, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) changed the method of calculating the amount of subsidies to be paid to companies or individual business operators under the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses.
- Concerning the method of calculating the subsidy amount to be paid under the program, METI has been using the following calculation formula and rounding down values less than 100,000 yen.
Amount of subsidies to be paid;
For a company: 2 million yen; for an individual business operator: 1 million yen
*Note: However, the upper limit of the amount is the decrease in sales for the past one year.
Method of calculating decrease in sales
D = X -( Y × 12 months )
*Note:
D: Decrease in sales
X: Total sales in the previous year
Y: Sales from a month this year with 50% or less sales than the same month last year
-
However, since it started paying the subsidies on May 8, 2020, METI has received a large number of opinions from companies and individual business operators requesting that they also wish to receive the rounded-down amounts of less than 100,000 yen, and to meet these requests, METI decided on an additional payment of such amounts to companies and individual business operators which have already received the subsides at a later date.
-
METI will strive to advance coordination so that such companies and individual business operators are able to additionally receive the rounded-down amounts as soon as possible. No new requests should be filed for additionally receiving such amounts.
-
METI will continue to endeavor to quickly provide companies and individual business operators with necessary support measures in an easy-to-understand manner.
