Framework for Supporting Filing Requests for the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses to be Enhanced

June 5, 2020

Aiming to support businesses which are facing difficulties in electronically filing a request for the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses by themselves, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has opened over 500 physical sites called “Sites for Supporting Filing Requests.” In addition to this effort, targeting the regions where no Sites for Supporting Filing Requests are yet established at any commerce and industry associations or chambers of commerce and industry as of today, METI will start providing services for supporting businesses in filing a request for the program at commerce and industry associations or chambers of commerce and industry in such regions from June 8, 2020. Moreover, METI will dispatch counselors exclusively for supporting businesses at other commerce and industry associations and chambers of commerce and industry across Japan for the purpose of enhancing consultation services for addressing a variety of inquiries. For more information, contact a nearby industry association or chamber of commerce and industry in your region.

1. Supporting businesses in filing a request for the program

Under the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses, MET will accept electronically filed requests in principle. However, METI has opened about 500 Sites for Supporting Filing Requests across Japan aiming to support businesses that are facing difficulties in electronically filing a request for the program by themselves.

Meanwhile, METI is scheduled to dispatch mobile offices where no such sites are yet established. In addition to this effort, from June 8, 2020, METI will start providing services for supporting businesses in filing a request for the program at 1,649 commerce and industry associations and 46 chambers of commerce and industry across Japan in order to horizontally support such businesses.

2. Providing consultation services

METI will enhance consultation services at the business consultation counters in commerce and industry associations and chambers of commerce and industry in regional areas in order to address a variety of inquiries about the measures against the novel coronavirus disease, including those about the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses.

METI will start such consultation services from June 8, 2020, and will complete enhancement of such services at commerce and industry associations and chambers of commerce and industry by the end of June 2020.
