July 1, 2020
On July 1 (Wed.) 2020, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will start a call for outstanding businesses as applicants for the FY2020 Excellent Green Logistics Commendation Program. Under this program, METI and MLIT will select businesses that have made remarkable contributions to establishing sustainable logistics systems through reduction of environmental burdens, improvement of productivity and other efforts in the logistics industry, as the winners of the minister’s awards and the director-general’s awards.
These winners will make presentations on their efforts at a Green Logistics Partnership Conference to be held in December 2020.
1. Outline of the Green Logistics Partnership Conference
Establishment of sustainable logistics systems through reduction of environmental burdens, improvement of productivity and other efforts in the logistics industry requires consignors and logistics business operators to implement collaborative and cooperative efforts, sharing their knowledge (in partnerships), in addition to their individual efforts. The Green Logistics Partnership Conference is an opportunity to support the industry in conducting cooperative efforts among businesses and to popularize and facilitate the Green Logistics Partnership program.
Organizers: METI, MLIT, the Japan Institute of Logistics Systems and the Japan Association for Logistics and Transport
2. Eligibility and other requirements
Eligible applicants are businesses that have achieved efforts for at least one month in which they have established sustainable logistics systems through reduction of environmental burdens (e.g., reducing emissions of carbon dioxide, improvement of productivity and other efforts) in the logistics industry by taking measures for improving logistics under partnerships between multiple business operators (e.g., a consignor and a logistics business operator).
In selecting winners, the organizers will comprehensively assess applicants based on such perspectives as improving labor environments, reviewing business practices, enhancing value of communities and regional areas and utilizing new technologies.
3. Period of the call
From July 1 (Wed.) to August 25 (Tue.), 2020
Note: Applications must be postmarked by the closing date of August 25, 2020, and sent by postal mail or registered delivery by this date.
