The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is pleased to announce that the 9th LNG Producer-Consumer Conference will be held on Monday October 12, jointly hosted by the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC). The conference will provide the participants, including ministers, heads of international organizations, corporate executives, and other stakeholders, with a forum for sharing the latest trends in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market and discussing opportunities and challenges with a view to developing the global LNG market.
The LNG Producer-Consumer Conference is a global annual dialogue, launched in 2012. The Conference held last September was attended by over 1,000 people from governments, international organizations, and businesses involved in the LNG industry from 32 countries and economies. The current LNG market seems to face earthshaking changes such as a drop in demand of LNG and the historically low levels of spot price due to the recession of the world economy caused by COVID-19. As the environment surrounding the LNG industry has been undergoing a dramatic transformation, the 2020 Conference will provide an opportunity to promote active dialogue among LNG producers, consumers and other stakeholders with a view to developing ideas for building up win-win relationships between producers and consumers. The conference will also provide opportunities to discuss the necessary efforts to expand the LNG market especially in Asia. Considering the spread of COVID-19, the conference will be held online. Although this is the first such online LNG Producer-Consumer Conference, we would like you to enjoy the unique online conference experience, and we attempt to make this conference better than ever.
