First Meeting of “Study Group on the Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy in the 2020s” to be Held

- Effort for formulating the next Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy -

July 14, 2020

On July 16, 2020, the first meeting of the “Study Group on the Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy in the 2020s” will be held for the purpose of obtaining recommendations on ideal approaches to future distribution policies, as an effort for formulating the next Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy.

The FY2017-FY2020 Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy, on which the Cabinet Decision was made in July 2017, stipulates FY2020 as the final fiscal year of the planned period for the policy.

Environments surrounding the distribution industry in Japan have been changing in a diverse manner, such as an escalating labor shortage along with a decrease in population and the aging society with fewer children, changes in social and economic environments caused by expansion of the novel coronavirus disease and evolution of AI, IoT and other advanced technologies.

To address this situation, the first meeting of the Study Group on the Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy in the 2020s will be held as below for the purpose of holding discussions on future directions of actions to solve a variety of challenges surrounding the distribution industry and obtaining recommendations on ideal approaches to future distribution policies. These are efforts towards formulating the next Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy.
