New Secretariat of Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses Accepting Requests for Subsidies on September 1, 2020

Concerning the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses, a new secretariat of the program will start accepting requests for subsidies under the program on September 1 (Tue.), 2020.

On and after September 1, 2020, a new secretariat called “Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests on and after September 1” will be in charge of acceptance of requests for subsidies, examinations of the requests and other services under the program. Until August 31, 2020, the current secretariat of the program the “Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests, etc. on and before August 31” is in charge of acceptance of such requests, examinations of the requests and other services.

Note: There will be no changes in the current institutional systems of the program, such as eligibility for receiving subsidies. Once a business has received subsidies, it is no longer eligible to file any request for subsidies under the program.

1. Information on filing requests and the consultation counter as well as on the dividing of services between the current and new secretariats on and after September 1

On May 1 (Fri.), 2020, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) started accepting requests for subsidies under the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses and, since then, the current secretariat has been accepting such requests.

On and after September 1, 2020, the Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests on and after September 1 (new secretariat) will be in charge of acceptance of requests for subsidies, examinations of the requests and other services under the program. Until August 31, 2020, the Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests, etc. on and before August 31 (current secretariat) is in charge of acceptance of such requests, examinations of the requests and other services under the program.

Accordingly, if you are an applicant who has filed a request for subsidies on or before August 31, 2020, continue to make use of the website for the Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests, etc. on and before August 31 (in Japanese) and the consultation counter of the secretariat. If you intend to newly file a request for subsidies on or after September 1 (Tue.) 2020, make use of the website for the Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests on and after September 1 and the consultation counter of the new secretariat.

For how to access these consultation counters, see below. As the telephone lines of the call center below are expected to become very busy, please make use of the METI website, the secretariats’ websites, the LINE accounts and other means as well.

2. Information on the Sites for Supporting Filing Requests for the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses and mobile offices on and after September 1

METI has been operating physical sites called “Sites for Supporting Filing Requests” to support businesses which are facing difficulties in electronically filing a request. It will continue to operate the sites even after September 1 (Tue.), 2020. For details of the sites, e.g., site venues and how to make advance registration, visit the website below.

METI will also dispatch mobile offices to regions where no such sites are to be opened.

Moreover, to provide full efforts for ensuring the quality of support measures for applicants, by the end of September 2020, the current Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests, etc. on and before August 31 will integrally operate the Sites for Supporting Filing Requests and the mobile offices, while on and after October 1, 2020, the new Secretariat of the Subsidy Program for Sustaining Businesses in Charge of Accepting Requests on and after September 1 will operate the sites and offices.
