METI Minister Kajiyama attended the Australia-India-Japan Economic Ministers’ Meeting

On September 1, 2020, Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry attended the Australia-India-Japan Economic Ministers’ Meeting held via video conference, and convened with H.E. Mr. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Australia, and H.E. Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, India.

On September 1, 2020, Minister Kajiyama Hiroshi attended the Australia-India-Japan Economic Ministers’ Meeting held via video conference. Cooperation on enhancing supply chain resilience was discussed at the Ministerial Meeting.

In light of the COVID-19 crisis and the recent global-scale economic changes, the three Ministers shared their understanding of the necessity to enhance the resiliency of supply chains in the Indo-Pacific region.

They shared their intention to work toward the launch of a new initiative to achieve supply chain resilience. The three Ministers also called for other countries in the region, which share the afore-mentioned views, to participate in the initiative.
