METI Minister Kajiyama Attends Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Intersessional Ministerial Meeting

On October 14, 2020, Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the 11th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Intersessional Ministerial Meeting held via video conference.

On October 14, 2020, Minister Kajiyama attended the 11th RCEP Intersessional Ministerial Meeting held via video conference. At the meeting, in accordance with the Joint Leaders’ Statement issued in November 2019, participating ministers checked the current status of negotiations on remaining issues and held frank and positive discussions on the way forward for the negotiations.

The ministers confirmed the ongoing tasks for solutions to the remaining issues and the countries participating in the negotiations affirmed anew that the RCEP remains open for India.

Japan, as well as other member countries, will continue to advance efforts for the signing of the RCEP Agreement by the end of 2020 and for India’s return to the RCEP.
