FY2020 METI Minister’s Award to Recognize Contributions to Traditional Craft Industries
October 16, 2020
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has selected the FY2020 recipients of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award to Recognize Contributions to Traditional Craft Industries, and hereby announces the outline of the results.
1. METI Minister Award to Recognize Contributions to Traditional Craft Industries
This award program was established in 1984, with the aim of fostering the wider use of traditional craft products in the lives of the public and further motivating people who are engaged in traditional craft industries, by recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the development of Japan’s traditional craft industries.
2. FY2020 recipients
After a strict examination of candidates by the examination committee of external experts, 46 individuals and two associations were selected as the FY2020 recipients for their significant contributions to the promotion of traditional craft industries.
A presentation ceremony will be held only by bringing together representatives of these recipients from the viewpoint of preventing expansion of the novel coronavirus disease. A video clip of this ceremony will be broadcast taking the opportunity of the 37th Traditional Craft Products Month National Assembly to be held on the premises of JR Kyoto Station, Kyoto Prefecture, and on the website of the KOUGEI EXPO 2020 (in Japanese).
For an outline and details of the recipients and the ceremony, see the Appendices.
