METI State Minister Nagasaka Attends the Second Global Ministerial Conference on System Integration of Renewables

On October 27, 2020, the Second Global Ministerial Conference on System Integration of Renewables was held via video conference jointly by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the government of Singapore, and Mr. Nagasaka Yasumasa, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the conference.

The conference, which was jointly held by the IEA and the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of the government of Singapore, shared information on innovative efforts and the latest knowledge mainly focusing on power system integration toward expanded introduction of renewable energy. The conference brought together Dr. Fatih Birol, IEA Executive Director, ministers from a variety of countries and representatives of private companies from all over the world.

Representing Japan, State Minister Nagasaka participated in the conference and delivered a speech on Japan’s expanded introduction of renewable energy as well as the challenges facing, and efforts toward establishing resilient and flexible power systems.

He also participated in a panel discussion together with the ministers responsible for energy and other officials from India, Germany, Norway, Hungary, Finland, Myanmar, Lao PDR and the United States.
