METI Minister Kajiyama Attends Annual Meeting of EU-Japan Business Round Table

On November 5 (Thur.), 2020, an annual meeting of the EU-Japan Business Round Table was held via video conference. Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the meeting.
Minister Kajiyama attended an annual meeting of the EU-Japan Business Round Table, an occasion where industrial players in Japan and the EU offer policy proposals to the Japanese and EU governments. This meeting brought together many participants from public and private sectors in Japan and the EU, including Mr. Sakuyama Masaki, Chairman, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (chair of the Japanese side), Mr. Phillippe Wahl, Chairman and CEO, La Poste Group, France (chair of the EU side), and Mr. Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for Internal Market. As a representative of the government of Japan, Minister Kajiyama received a proposal from industrial players from both Japan and the EU, and stated such issues as the importance of carbon neutral efforts to be achieved by 2050 and digitalization amid the spread of the novel coronavirus disease, trends in activities making use of the Japan-EU EPA, and the need for an early conclusion to the UK-EU negotiations on future relationships.
