Final Round of Presentations to be Held under the Japan Healthcare Business Contest (JHeC) 2021 Program

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has been conducting the Japan Healthcare Business Contest (JHeC) program since 2016 to establish a foundation to encourage the sustainable growth of the healthcare business. This business contest aims to recognize outstanding companies and entities that are creating solutions to social challenges in the field of healthcare to facilitate business matching of such companies with business entities, venture capitals or other companies; and to encourage self-sustaining growth of healthcare businesses and companies.
METI will hold the JHeC 2021 on January 28 (Thurs), 2021. This will be the sixth instance of the contest.
11 finalists selected from about 170 entries through the document screening and the first presentation examination will present speeches: five for the idea contest category and six for the business contest category. METI hopes that the public shares its anticipation for the presentations by these promising venture businesses and other companies which are expected to grow. Moreover, METI hereby calls for [i] “support associations,” which are companies and associations willing to support start up businesses and other companies which will give presentations as the finalists at the JHeC 2021 and [ii] “collaboration event partners,” which are event holders willing to cooperate with the business contest in providing PR and other activities.
1. Outline of the contest
Date and time: January 28 (Thur.), 2021; from 13:00 to 18:00 (tentative time schedule)
Venue: Otemachi Mitsui Hall (3rd floor, Otemachi One; 1-2-1, Otemachi, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo)
Note: In this contest, the examination of the presentations and commendation ceremony will both be open to the public. However, these events may be partially held online depending on the situations involving the novel coronavirus disease. METI will announce more information on how to participate in these events at a later date.

3. Call for support associations and collaboration event partners
As part of this program, METI opens a call for [i] “support associations,” which are companies or associations willing to support venture businesses as speakers at the JHeC 2021 in developing business or growth and [ii] “collaboration event partners” which can hold events related to healthcare to encourage startups and other companies to grow (events such as contests, symposiums and other activities).
