The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and the Ministry of Defense (MOD), has selected the recipients of the Ministerial Awards for the Infrastructure Maintenance Awards. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on January 8 (Fri.), 2021.
1. Outline of the Infrastructure Maintenance Awards
The Infrastructure Maintenance Awards recognize outstanding initiatives and technology developments related to social infrastructure maintenance (hereinafter referred to as “infrastructure maintenance”) in Japan. It aims to invigorate the maintenance industry by disseminating best practices and promoting initiatives by companies, groups, and researchers involved in infrastructure maintenance in Japan, while also raising its awareness.
2. Applications and Review Results
The METI Minister Award was newly established for the forth award program and received 288 applications from February 14 to May 29, 2020. METI is pleased to announce that two winners of the METI Minister Award, one winner of the Special Award, and five winners of the Award for Excellence have been selected by the screening committee of experts (Chairman: Mr. Miki Chitoshi, President of Tokyo City University) as follows.
