Report on Trends in Regional Economies and Industries in October 2020 Compiled
December 24, 2020
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) compiled a report on economic indices concerning production, private consumption, business investment and other elements for each region in order to ascertain trends in regional economies across Japan.
Key points
- Indices of industrial production (seasonally adjusted; month-on-month basis) showed an increase in all regions.
- Sales in the month on a year-on-year basis in six types of business in the retail trade industry showed an increase in all regions.
From October 2020, METI adds a new questionnaire item “total number of tourists who stayed in regions of Japan” to the survey and also adds to the Appendix the indices of industrial production (including the transportation equipment sector) on the levels of recovery by region.
For details, see the Appendix.
