Call for Operators for Hydrogen-Related Projects Starts

May 18, 2021

From today, NEDO has opened a call for operators for hydrogen-related projects that will be implemented using the Green Innovation Fund.

1. Background and purpose

Toward the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, a Green Innovation Fund has been established under the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). In this fund program, field-specific working groups established under the Green Innovation Project Committee, Industrial Structure Council deliberate on issues such as the priority and appropriateness of the amount to be implemented by the fund for each project. Then, the divisions and offices in charge of the project at the responsible ministries formulate the contents of each project as an "R&D and Social Implementation Plan," and start calling for operators for such projects.
Based on discussions at the Working Group on the Field of Energy Structure Transformation, METI has formulated an R&D and Social Implementation Plan for hydrogen-related projects. In response to this, NEDO has started calling for hydrogen-related project operators.

2. Call for operators for the hydrogen-related projects

From today to July 1 (Thu.), NEDO calls for operators regarding projects named the "Large-scale Hydrogen Supply Chain Establishment" and "Hydrogen Production through Water Electrolysis Using Power from Renewables" For details, please check NEDO's public call information at the link below.

3. Future schedule

After the public calls end, NEDO's reviewing period is scheduled to last about one and a half months. The projects are scheduled to begin from mid-August.
