FY2020 Measures to Promote Manufacturing Technology (White Paper on Monodzukuri 2021) Released
May 28, 2021
FY2020 Measures to Promote Manufacturing Technology is a report on measures that the government of Japan has taken to promote core manufacturing technologies. It was compiled pursuant to Article 8 of the Basic Act on the Promotion of Core Manufacturing Technology (Act No. 2 of 1999).
This report was jointly prepared by three ministries, namely, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It was approved by the Cabinet on May 28, 2021.
Key points of the White Paper on Monodzukuri 2021
Following the spread of COVID-19 and other developments, the environment surrounding Japanese manufacturing industries is rapidly shifting into the "New Normal." In light of these current circumstances, the White Paper analyzed the latest trends in the public and private sectors from three perspectives that have a particularly significant impact on business operators: "resilience" (making supply chains more resilient), "green" (carbon neutrality), and "digital."
