International Symposium on Intellectual Property regarding Green Technologies to Be Held

- Initiatives to Solve Environmental Issues through WIPO GREEN -

On June 18, 2021 (Fri.), the Japan Patent Office will hold an international symposium on intellectual property about WIPO GREEN, a platform run by the UN World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to promote widespread use of green technologies. The symposium will deepen practical discussions on the challenges regarding international cooperation on environmental issues, solutions to them, and potential effects on businesses.

1. Purpose

WIPO GREEN is a platform that contributes to making green technologies widespread all around the world. With growing interest in SDGs and environmental issues, the symposium aims to identify the impact, challenges, and solutions regarding the platform from practical viewpoints in terms of business, and promote efforts to solve social issues through effective use of intellectual property.

June 18, 2021 (Fri.) from 20:00 to 22:00

Online symposium (live-streamed on the Internet)

* Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean.

5. Related events

On June 17 (Thu.), JIPA will discuss the use of WIPO GREEN with the theme of clean oceans. The topics will include the current state of marine pollution and plastic waste issues, the activities of CLOMA (an organization that specializes in clean oceans), and concrete examples of technological solutions from various companies.
