Holding of Japan Healthcare Business Contest (JHeC) 2022 Decided

- Call for collaboration events and for companies and individuals to be speakers -

METI will hold the JHeC 2022 on January 14 (Fri.), 2022.
The JHeC program aims to [i] recognize outstanding individuals, associations, companies and other entities attempting to solve societal challenges in the field of healthcare, in order to raise public awareness of their activities, and [ii] encourage the growth of such outstanding individuals, associations and companies by promoting business matching with large companies and venture capital firms. METI will soon open calls for collaboration events and for companies and individuals to be speakers, and is hoping for an enthusiastic response.

1. Outline of the contest

January 14 (Fri.), 2022; from 13:00 to 18:00 (tentative)

Venue:

Otemachi Mitsui Hall (3rd floor, Otemachi One, 1-2-1 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)
(The contest may be held online depending on the situation regarding COVID-19.)

* With the aim of developing a foundation and environment for creating a new, next-generation healthcare industry, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has been working with funds, private companies, associations, event organizers and other entities related to healthcare, to establish an ecosystem in the field by connecting them with the funding necessary to create and expand business through initiatives such as awards programs which draw attention to outstanding examples. As part of this effort, it has been holding the Japan Healthcare Business Contest (JHeC) program since FY2015. This will be the 7th JHeC.

2. Call for applications from companies and individuals to be speakers

The JHeC consists of two events: the Business Contest Category and the Idea Contest Category. METI will open a call for applicants from companies and individuals to be speakers in both categories.

1. Business Contest Category

For this category, METI calls for applicants with new businesses that will solve social issues in healthcare fields such as health, medical care and nursing care, and create and achieve a vision of the future of healthcare in the "New Normal" era. Applications are accepted regardless of whether the businesses provide services, or produce applications (software) or apparatus (hardware).

2. Idea Contest Category

For this category, METI calls for applications from people who know of a challenge that they think should be solved in a healthcare field (e.g., health, medical care, or nursing care), and an idea for solving it. Applications are accepted regardless of whether the ideas are about services, applications (software) or apparatus (hardware).

3. Call for support associations and collaboration events

As part of this program, around in the fall of 2021, METI will open a call for the following:

[i] support associations, meaning companies or associations that are willing to support the businesses and/or growth of venture companies and entities that speak at the JHeC 2022; and

[ii] events such as camps and acceleration programs, business matching, and contests related to stimulating business in healthcare fields, to be held as collaboration events.
