Global Startup Connection: J-Startups for NET ZERO Will Be Held, An Event to Promote the Attractiveness of Japanese Startups

Final program of the NET ZERO Leaders Summit (Japan Business Conference 2021)

August 26, 2021

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) are holding an online event called "NET ZERO Leaders Summit (Japan Business Conference 2021)" starting on July 28 (Wed.), to promote Japan's efforts toward achieving net zero and the attractiveness of its investment environment.
As the final program of the event, Global Startup Connection: J-Startups for NET ZERO will be held on September 9 (Thu.) and 10 (Fri.). This is an event to spread the word overseas about the attractiveness of Japanese startups.

1. Background and outline

The Green Growth Strategy (which METI led the formulation of) will direct all available policies, including international cooperation, in order to attract environmental investment from all around the world. In June 2021, the Japanese government set a new goal of "achieving an 80 trillion-yen balance of direct investment in Japan," and efforts toward this goal have become important. Against this background, METI and JETRO are holding an online event titled "NET ZERO Leaders Summit (Japan Business Conference 2021)" starting on July 28 in order to gather the world's wisdom toward achieving net zero, and promote Japan's attractive investment environment.

On September 9 (Thu.) and 10 (Fri.), as the final program of the event, Global Startup Connection: J-Startups for NET ZERO will be held, which is an event to spread the word overseas about the attractiveness of Japanese startups. Business executives will talk about the efforts of Japanese tech startups that contribute to achieving carbon neutrality and SDGs, corporate giants that are working toward collaborations with startups, and the potential of a startup ecosystem through lectures, panel discussions, and pitches.
