On September 17 (Fri.), the 2nd Supply Chain Resilience (SCR) Forum will be held online. The forum will invite experts from industry, government, and academia of Japan, Australia, India, and ASEAN economies etc., and will be open to the public.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), will hold the 2nd Supply Chain Resilience (SCR) Forum online on September 17, 2021.* The theme of the forum is " How supply chain management evolve by digital transformation ?" It will invite experts from industry, government, and academia of Japan, Australia, India, and ASEAN economies etc. to discussions, and will be open to the public.

Digital transformation (DX) can dramatically change approaches to global supply chains and its management. Digital technology provides visibility into the supply chains and enables their evaluation analysis and optimization. At the same time, it has the potential to make it easier for companies to connect and form networks beyond physical distances.

The forum's program includes introductions to efforts and researches regarding these supply chains and digital technology by representatives of industry, government, and academia of Japan, Australia, India and ASEAN economies to deepen understanding of state-of-the-art supply chain management and its future prospects. There will also be a session to discuss sustainable and inclusive development in the Indo-Pacific region such as a circular economy.

Through these sessions, the forum aims to provide opportunities for sharing future visions and possible interregional cooperation for improved visibility and resilience of supply chains through digital technology, the formation of a region-wide supply chain among Japan, Australia, India, and ASEAN economies etc., and sustainable development.

* The first forum was held for two days on March 11 and 12, 2021 privately among representatives of industry, government, and academia of Japan, Australia, India, and ASEAN economies. Please refer to the following link for the event report.
