Ninth East Asia Summit Economic Ministers' Meeting Held

On September 15, the Ninth East Asia Summit Economic Ministers' Meeting was held as part of the series of ASEAN Economic Ministers Meetings. The joint media statement was also issued.
On September 15 (Wed.), the Ninth East Asia Summit Economic Ministers' Meeting was held (via video conference), and attended by the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN member states, China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, the U.S., Russia, and ERIA (the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia). Japan was represented by Mr. Hirose Naoshi, Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), attending on behalf of Minister Kajiyama.
At the meeting, the participants exchanged views about the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the region and about improving supply chain resilience and taking other measures toward economic recovery. They also issued the joint media statement.
