METI Parliamentary Vice-Minister Yoshikawa Attends APEC SME Ministerial Meeting

On October 9 (Sat.), the 27th APEC SME Ministerial Meeting was held via video conference, and Ms. Yoshikawa Yumi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended as a representative of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The ministers in attendance discussed (1) digitalization as an enabler of effective recovery from economic shocks and (2) promoting inclusive development and wellbeing for recovery. They then adopted a ministerial statement based on these discussions.
On October 9 (Sat.), the 27th APEC SME Ministerial Meeting was held via video conference, and Ms. Yoshikawa Yumi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the event as a representative of the Japanese government.
On the theme of promoting Inclusive development and wellbeing for recovery, Vice-Minister Yoshikawa gave a presentation on enhancing health and productivity management for MSMEs. She did so in light of METI's policy of simultaneous realization of "economy" and "health" as one of its priority policies. The "health management" policy will help MSMEs achieve sustained growth, and the Vice-Minister proposed that it be extended to all countries in the APEC region as well.
As a result of these discussions, the ministers adopted a ministerial statement incorporating the presentations and ideas contributed by all the participating countries.
