On November 24, the Third Japan-PIC Economic Forum was held via video conference as an event related to the Ninth Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM9), and Mr. Ishii Masahiro, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended it as a representative of METI.

The Third Japan-PIC Economic Forum was held via video conference, organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Related to the Ninth Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM9) held online this July, this forum is aimed at stimulating trade and investment between Japan and Pacific island countries. This is the third meeting of the forum.

The forum was attended by State Minister Ishii from METI, and ministers and senior officials from governments of Pacific island countries and regions. In his welcome speech, State Minister Ishii stated that he hoped that the technology and knowledge of Japanese companies would be used to solve the challenges facing the island countries.

Representatives of the island countries and regions in attendance explained their needs and interests in Japanese companies and the attractiveness of the island countries as trading partners and investment destinations, while the Japanese business community presented technologies that could help solve the problems in the island countries, deepening the cooperation between the two sides.
