December 8, 2021
A news release was issued on November 24 with information on Japan Day's events, but the day will be held with some changes to the initial content, due to the current COVID-19 situation.
Held for 182 days from October 1, 2021 (Fri.) to March 31, 2022 (Thu.), Expo 2020 Dubai is the first-ever registered expo in the Middle East and Africa. The Expo's program includes National Days to honor each participating nation.
On December 11 (Sat.), Japan Day will be held as a National Day dedicated to Japan.
The event will be held with some changes to the initial content due to the emergence of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19. This includes preventing ministers and related personnel from Japan from attending the event.
The day will include an official ceremony attended by Japanese and UAE delegations, as well as performances by Japanese people residing in Dubai and various organizations. The performances are aimed at international exchange with the UAE and participating countries.
