Japan Day (a National Day dedicated to Japan) was held on December 11 (Sat.) at Expo 2020 Dubai which is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In light of the global spread of the Omicron variant, some changes have been made to the initial content of the event. Nonetheless, the event took place with an official ceremony, performances that conveyed the charm of Japanese culture, and other programs, showcasing the country to the world.

At the official ceremony attended by the delegates from Japan and the UAE, H.E. Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology, and Mr. Isomata Akio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the United Arab Emirates, delivered speeches as representatives of UAE and Japan respectively. The ceremony then moved onto performances showcasing Japan's diverse culture. The program included Japanese taiko drum, Aikido, and Nanchu Soran dance by students of the Japanese School in Dubai. At the luncheon, a video message from Mr. Wakamiya Kenji, Minister for the World Expo 2025, was screened, who congratulated all on the success of Expo 2020 Dubai, and expressed his gratitude for the UAE's announcement of its intention to participate in Expo 2025.
