1. Outline

On December 14 (Tue.), 2021, the 169th BIE General Assembly was held online. In the assembly, in addition to regular briefings by the BIE committees, the delegates reported on progress in their preparations for their future expositions.

2. Details of the report on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Mr. Sakakibara Sadayuki, Ambassador for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, reported on the progress that has been made in Japan's preparations for the exposition since the convening of the BIE General Assembly in December 2020. He reported in particular on the Japanese government's efforts, including the approval of the infrastructure development plan and activities to invite participants, as well as the countries and international organizations that have already announced their participation. In addition, Mr. Ichinoki Manatsu, Deputy Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, reported on the organizer's activities, including developing the venue, activities to raise public momentum toward the exposition, and activities at the Japan Pavillion in Expo 2020 Dubai. Mr. Haneda Koji also gave an address on his appointment as the Japanese government's representative for the 2025 World Exposition.
