Minister Hagiuda Holds Meeting with Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of International Energy Agency (IEA) via Video Conference

On January 31 (Mon.), Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a video conference with Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
In the meeting, Minister Hagiuda and Dr. Birol exchanged opinions on the situation in Ukraine, stabilization of the energy market by securing a stable supply and other methods, and the importance of securing energy security while undertaking energy transition worldwide, taking into consideration recent soaring energy prices. The two agreed that Japan and the IEA will cooperate in preparation for the IEA Ministerial Meeting scheduled to be held this March.
