Taiwan Plans to Ease Import Measures

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) welcomes the announcement by Taiwan of its proposal to ease import measures as a tailwind toward the reconstruction of Fukushima and the dispelling of the adverse impacts on reputation associated with the nuclear disaster. METI will continue to disseminate information to the international community.
Today, Taiwan announced that it will significantly ease the import measures, etc., that it has imposed until now on all food products from the following prefectures: Fukushima, Tochigi, Gunma, Ibaraki, and Chiba.
Up to now, METI has explained the safety of Japanese food products based on scientific evidence through the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association and other channels, and has urged Taiwan to eliminate the measures. METI welcomes this announcement, as it is a tailwind toward the
METI will continue to disseminate information to the international community in cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies in order to eliminate the remaining import measures.
