Overview

On March 22, 2022, the Exposition Association held a meeting of the final examination committee to select the official mascot for the 2025 World Exposition in Japan (hereinafter referred to as "Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan"), and decided on the grand award winner.

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is an exposition which will be collaboratively created and developed by all people in Japan through their participation. Aiming to make this mascot gain worldwide popularity, the Exposition Association will designate it as the official mascot and make use of it to further raise public awareness of the exposition and foster public interest and momentum.

Concept

This came from the idea: "Can I turn the logo into a mascot just the way it is?" The concept was to combine the logo with the water from Osaka, “the city of water,” to give it the ability to transform. Using that concept, we divided the logo into parts and came up with mascots of various forms while trying to maintain the logo's lively image.

Features

This mascot has no fixed form. The main design is just one of its forms. The red parts can be split apart, while the blue part can change shape freely. It never sticks to one form. Everyone involved with the Expo imagines the mascot differently, changing it endlessly into various forms. That is why we hope that this form will reflect a good future created from today's diverse world.

Relation to the logo

The logo is alive, and it had always wished to change. Then one day, the logo came across a body of pure water, and gained the ability to change into many different forms. Since then, the logo has been one with this mascot. The logo keeps wishing, "I will be whatever I want to be." And so, it keeps changing every day so it can be a better version of itself. As long as you have the power to imagine, the possibilities for change are infinite.
