Minister Hagiuda Participates in the Ad-hoc Meeting of G7 Energy Ministers

March 29, 2022

On March 28 (Mon.), Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, participated in the Ad-hoc Meeting of G7 Energy Ministers.

The Energy Ministers rejected Putin's demand that gas deliveries must be paid in roubles, and reaffirmed that agreed contracts for gas deliveries must be respected, since most of the gas supply contracts explicitly stipulate payment in euros or dollars.

During the meeting, Minister Hagiuda stated that the recent unilateral order by the Russian government to change contracts for private-sector transactions is unacceptable, as it seriously impedes the stability of private-sector transactions.
