Japan Reports on Progress in Preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, at the 170th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE)

In the 170th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held in Paris on June 20 (Mon.) to 21 (Tue.), 2022, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) reported on progress made in its preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai before the other BIE member countries.

1. Overview

On June 20 (Mon.) to 21 (Tue.), 2022, the 170th BIE General Assembly was held in Paris. In the assembly, in addition to regular briefings by the BIE committees, some of the delegates reported on progress in their preparations for their future expositions.

2. Details of the report on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Mr. Haneda Koji, Commissioner General of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, reported on the progress that has been made in Japan's preparations for the exposition since the convening of the BIE General Assembly in December 2021. He reported in particular on the Japanese government's efforts, including amendments to the action plan, activities undertaken to invite participants, and the countries and international organizations that have announced their participation. In addition, Mr. Ichinoki Manatsu, Deputy Secretary General, Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, reported on the organizer's activities, including developing the venue, the future schedule, various exhibition styles, and activities toward building momentum for the event.
