First Meeting of the Study Group on the Distribution Industry and Inflation to be Held
June 29, 2022
The worsening international situation is causing the costs of raw materials, energy, and logistics to skyrocket and driving up prices as a result. This could have a particularly serious impact on the public’s everyday consumption because of the effect on the retail industry that provides essential commodities.
In order to provide consumers with commodities in a stable manner even in the face of higher inflation, METI has established the Study Group on the Distribution Industry and Inflation in order to discuss the current issues regarding distribution and supply chains, and how to approach matters such as promoting DX. The first meeting is going to be held as outlined below.
In addition, METI is holding a "Super-DX Contest" to help speed up DX in the distribution industry, inviting distribution tech companies including startups to submit proposals toward solving the problems facing the distribution industry and supply chains. The study group is also going to review the submitted ideas, and award commendations for the excellent ones.
