Association for Networking Local Governments of Textile Production Areas to Be Established to Drive Cooperation between Said Areas

July 26, 2022

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has established the Association for Networking Local Government of Textile Production Areas to roll out efforts from regional governments that boast textile production areas and drive cooperation between them. Its first meeting will be held on July 27.

1. Purpose

On May 18, METI released the Textile Vision, a compilation of discussions and thoughts on the course of action the textile industry should take up to 2030.

The Vision notes that local governments need to provide support specific to each production area's situation, and that it would be best to share and roll out effective measures that address common issues, which include the declining number of workers and business succession.

In order to roll out efforts for textile production areas and drive cooperation between them, METI (which will act as the secretariat) has thus established the Association for Networking Local Governments of Textile Production Areas, comprised of regional governments that boast textile production areas, and organized its first meeting.

2. Schedule and other details

The association's first meeting will be held on July 27.
It will be conducted privately in order to ensure that regional governments can exchange views openly and freely, but please refer to the reference link below for materials and a summary of the minutes.
