On Wednesday, September 28, Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Javad Owji, Minister of Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, they discussed further strengthening traditional friendly relations between Japan and Iran, including in the energy sector.
In light of the latest developments surrounding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Minister Nishimura stated that Japan has consistently supported the JCPOA and hoped that negotiations by the countries concerned would lead to an agreement at an early date. In response, Minister Owji explained Iran’s stance on the issue.
They also discussed various areas of cooperation, including in the energy sector, and confirmed that they would continue to cooperate to strengthen relations between the two nations.
