- On October 18 (Tue.), Minister Nishimura held a meeting with Dr. Okonjo Iweala, Director General of the WTO, who was visiting Japan. He also mentioned that Japan will do everything it can to help reform the WTO such as recovering a well-functioning dispute settlement system by taking the opportunity of next year's G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting. Additionally, he shared his ideas for moving forward on talks regarding individual issues such as E-commerce negotiations (that Japan is co-chairing), the moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions, and strengthening rules on industrial subsidies.
