Second Japan-China Policy Dialogue on Decarbonization Held

December 7, 2022

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of the People's Republic of China held the second Japan-China Policy Dialogue on Decarbonization online on December 6 (Tue.). The participants presented and exchanged views on both countries' efforts toward decarbonization.

This policy dialogue was established last year as a forum for presenting to each other and exchanging views on Japan's and China's efforts toward carbon neutrality.
The online meeting was attended by Mr. Minami Ryo, Deputy Commissioner for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality of METI, and Mr. Su Wei, Deputy Secretary General of NDRC. They introduced Japan's clean energy strategy, China's Modern Energy System Plan Under the 14th Five-Year Plan(2021-25), and other policies, and they exchanged opinions on efforts for hydrogen, ammonia, and other areas they are interested in. The leaders also agreed to hold this policy dialogue again next year.
