On February 14 (Tue.), METI held the GX League Symposium 2023 in preparation for the launch of the GX League's activities in FY2023, and Minister Nishimura attended. The symposium included messages from Mr. TOKURA Masakazu, Chairman of the Japan Business Federation, Mr. HANZAWA Junichi, Chairman of the Japanese Bankers Association, and others. 2. Comments
- It is important for Japan to not only fulfill its international pledge of carbon neutrality by 2050, but to also lead the world in the so-called GX using Japan's technological strengths to transition its industrial and social structures to clean energy.
- Under the Pro-Growth Carbon Pricing Initiative, we will implement carbon pricing by gradually introducing carbon pricing methods, such as emissions trading and carbon surcharge rates. This will promote investment and increase the value added and profitability of products made with low carbon emissions and their businesses.
- The GX League's emissions trading system will also be implemented as a voluntary framework in Phase 1, which will start from this April.
