Second Japan-Indonesia Public-Private Economic Dialogue (Track 1.5) Held

On May 30, 2023, the second meeting of the “Japan-Indonesia Public-Private Economic Dialogue (Track 1.5)” was held in Tokyo to discuss the promotion of efforts by Japanese and Indonesian public and private sectors in such areas as digital technology, green industry and human capital development based on “the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative.”
On May 30, 2023, the second meeting of the Japan-Indonesia Public-Private Economic Dialogue (Track 1.5) was held in Tokyo.
The launch of this dialogue was agreed upon by Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, former-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and H.E. Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs of Indonesia, in January 2022. In the second meeting, Japan and Indonesia discussed how to promote collaboration through specific projects related to important themes within the policies of the Indonesian government that support those areas, such as digital technology, promotion of green industry, and human capital development, to produce tangible outcomes from efforts based on “the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative,” which was announced in January 2022.
In addition, the two sides discussed deepening economic relations for regional development, such as Japan-ASEAN cooperation, and the Japanese side made requests for improving the business environment in Indonesia. They decided to continue to hold discussions among the stakeholders.
Moreover, in light of the details of the discussions, the two sides released a Joint Media Statement on the future directions of Japan-Indonesia collaboration.
