Minister Nishimura Holds Meeting with Mr. Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Energy and Mines of Lao PDR

Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Energy and Mines of Lao PDR. The two ministers welcomed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on the Realization of Energy Partnership signed by their ministries and confirmed that the two countries will hold a Japan-Lao PDR Policy Dialogue based on the MOC to deepen discussions on their energy cooperation. Furthermore, it was agreed that Japan and Lao PDR, which will assume the role of chair of ASEAN next year, will accelerate energy transitions in the Asian region, mainly in ASEAN states, placing the Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC) platform at the core of their efforts.
