METI Minister Nishimura Attends Meeting to Exchange Views with the Senior Executives of AI and Semiconductor Companies

On November 14 (local time: November 13), 2023, Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended a meeting held in San Francisco, the United States, to exchange views with the senior executives of global top companies in the fields of AI and semiconductors, which are indispensable fields in the establishment of green transformation (GX), digital transformation (DX), and economic security. He exchanged views on future efforts for specific projects under collaboration between Japan and the U.S.
This meeting brought together the following senior executives.

- Mr. Jensen Huang, CEO, NVIDIA Corporation
- Mr. Koike Atsuyoshi, CEO, Rapidus Corporation
- Mr. Charles Liang, CEO, Super Micro Computer Inc.
- Mr. Jim Keller, CEO, Tenstorrent Inc.
- Mr. David Goeckeler, CEO, Western Digital Corporation
- Mr. David Tom, Vice President, Apple Inc.
- Mr. Antony Cook, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Corporation
These executives of the global companies explained the latest trends in AI and next-generation semiconductors, and stated their intention to embark on proactive efforts for their future projects under collaboration between Japan and the U.S.
Minister Nishimura, recognizing the strong expectations for Japan’s contribution to future projects, stated that Japan would discuss how it could provide firm cooperation and support for the proposals these executives offered and that it would provide strong support to specific projects under collaboration between Japan and the U.S.
