METI Minister Nishimura Delivers Address at the University of California, Berkeley

Minister Nishimura held an address and a dialogue at the Haas School of Business, the University of California, Berkeley, and had a Q&A session with the participants.

In his keynote address, Minister Nishimura focused on the key phrase of transformational changes. He noted the importance of startups as a source of such changes and innovation and talked about these changes in social and industrial structures in Japan as well as the prospects for Japan-U.S. collaboration. In the dialogue, he described the potential of Japanese startups and talked about “Japan Innovation Campus”, a newly established hub in the United States. The minister also conveyed his hope that many people in the United States will visit Japan.

At the end of the seminar, Berkeley SkyDeck, an organization for supporting startups of the University of California, Berkeley, concluded a memorandum of understanding on the enhancement of cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
