Minister Saito Holds Meeting with H.E. Dr. Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand

On Monday, December 18, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. They exchanged views on the next-generation automobile industry and other issues toward the co-creation of industries and human resources that will lead the future of the two countries.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed future industry creation, energy transition toward decarbonization, and human resources development toward co-creation by the two countries. In particular, they exchanged views on future directions to maintain and strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand as an export hub of next-generation automobiles.
More specifically in regard to the automobile industry, Minister Saito raised such initiatives as the decarbonization of manufacturing processes and strengthening of competitiveness for a wide range of vehicles from EVs and hybrids to internal combustion engines with a view toward the world market, which were also touched upon during his courtesy call on Prime Minister Srettha of Thailand. Minister Saito shared the importance of “Japan-Thailand Energy and Industry Dialogue” that will discuss these issues to Deputy Prime Minister Parnpree.
