On January 10th, Minister Saito held a teleconference with H.E. Ms. Gina M. Raimondo, United States Secretary of Commerce.
On January 10th, Minister Saito held a teleconference with H.E. Ms. Gina M. Raimondo, United States Secretary of Commerce. Minister Saito and Secretary Raimondo exchanged views on a variety of issues, such as strengthening bilateral economic cooperation through the Japan-U.S. Commercial and Industrial Partnership (JUCIP) and the Japan-U.S. Economic Policy Consultative Committee (Economic "2+2"), as well as cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
Particularly, in light of mutual understanding at the Economic "2+2" ministerial meeting last November to set up a task force for building transparent, resilient, and sustainable supply chains, the two principals concurred to have their officials hold a meeting a meeting as soon as possible under the JUCIP between METI and the Department of Commerce.
They also confirmed their intention to convene the first Japan-U.S.-Korea Commerce and Industry Ministers' Meeting at the earliest possible time.
