Second Nuclear Supply Chain Symposium to be Held

The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE) under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold the Second Nuclear Supply Chain Symposium, aiming to provide an opportunity to explain and discuss overseas business expansion by domestic nuclear-related companies and measures for maintaining and strengthening the nuclear supply chain, including support for business succession and human resource development, and to accelerate Japan’s efforts.

1. Purpose of the forum

In March 2023, METI held the first “Nuclear Supply Chain Symposium,” bringing together about 400 participants from 12 countries in total, including those who attended online. Taking this opportunity, then-METI Minister announced the establishment of the Nuclear Supply Chain Platform (NSCP).

Since the establishment of the NSCP, METI has been proactively advancing efforts, including dispatching a mission of Japanese-affiliated suppliers overseas, holding seminars on subsidies, holding interviews with 400 nuclear-related companies, and providing support for human resource development in the field of nuclear energy, supporting the maintenance and strengthening of the nuclear supply chain.

Against this backdrop, ANRE will hold the Second Nuclear Supply Chain Symposium, aiming to provide an opportunity to explain and discuss support measures for maintaining and strengthening the nuclear supply chain and accelerate efforts by the public and private sectors.

Following on from the first symposium, the second one will provide explanations on such efforts as case examples in overseas countries and hold discussions among experts.

To attend the symposium, please complete advance registration according to the guidance shown in “4. How to apply” below (closing date: February 23 (Fri.), 2024). (The scenes of the symposium will be broadcast on YouTube.)
