METI Minister Saito Receives Recommendations Adopted by the Japan-EU Business Round Table
January 23, 2024
On Monday, January 22, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call from Mr. Endo Nobuhiro, Japan-side co-chair of the Japan-EU Business Round Table. During the meeting, Mr. Endo hand-delivered the policy recommendations compiled by the business communities of Japan and the EU.
The Japan-EU Business Round Table (BRT*), launched in 1999, brings together representatives of the business communities of Japan and the EU to compile policy recommendations.
As the 2023 BRT has completed its compiling of recommendations, Chairman Endo visited Minister Saito to hand-deliver a document titled The EU and Japan – Partnering on Economic Security for Sustainable Growth. It contains policy recommendations regarding common challenges facing the business communities of Japan and the EU in areas such as economic security, green transition, digitalization, standardization, regulatory harmonization, and R&D and skills.
*The 25th Annual Meeting 2023 was co-chaired by Endo Nobuhiro (executive advisor, NEC Corporation) and Philippe Wahl (chairman and CEO, La Poste Groupe).
