METI Minister Saito Attends “Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo” and Delivers Remarks

On March 6 (Wed.), 2024, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended “Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo” and delivered remarks. During his remarks, he stated that it is important for Japan to work with India and other trusted partner countries to achieve economic resilience and economic security and inclusive and sustainable growth at the global level.

On March 6 (Wed.), 2024, an international conference titled “Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo” was held jointly by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), and the Observer Research Foundation, India's largest think tank. Minister Saito attended the roundtable and delivered remarks. The roundtable aims to hold discussions on economic security and coordination among the QUAD member countries, bringing together experts in the government, industry, and academic sectors from Japan, the United States, Australia, and India.

During his remarks, while stressing the significance of coordination among the QUAD member countries,* Minister Saito stated that it is important for Japan to work with India and other trusted partner countries to achieve “economic resilience and economic security” and “inclusive and sustainable growth” at the global level, including the enhanced resilience of supply chains.

Regarding the cooperation with India, in particular, Japan will aim to build higher-level Japan-India economic ties by providing support for specific projects under the framework of the Initiative for Japan-India Industry Co-Creation, which was announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in July 2023, as an effort for accelerating co-creation in the field of future industries, including semiconductors and hydrogen.
