Parliamentary Vice-Minister Yoshida Receives a Courtesy Call from Mr. Jo Cops, President of the International Electrotechnical Commission

On Friday, April 19, Mr. Yoshida Nobuhiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call from Mr. Jo Cops, President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Mr. Vimal Mahendru, Chair of the Standardization Management Board (SMB) and IEC Vice-President, and Mr. Peter J. Lanctot, Secretary of the Market Strategy Board (MSB).

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the growing importance of international standardization in response to changes in the international environment. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Yoshida explained Japan's participation in the IEC and its contribution to the development of international standards for AI Management Systems published last December and expressed Japan's commitment to accelerate standardization activities. IEC President Cops expressed his appreciation and expectations for Japan's contributions to the IEC, including the MSB, which Japan chairs, as well as for Japan's cooperation in the organizational management of the IEC.
