Minister Saito Holds Meetings with Ministers of Indonesia and Viet Nam

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held meetings each with H.E. Mr. Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Mr. Lê Minh Khái, Deputy Prime Minister, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, during their visits to Japan to participate in the 29th Nikkei Forum, “Future of Asia,” to be held on May 23 and 24, 2024. Minister Saito exchanged views with each minister on energy cooperation under the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) platform, bilateral ties, trade policies, and supply chain resilience.
1. Meeting with Minister Arifin, Indonesia
At the meeting, the two sides agreed that Japan and Indonesia will strongly propel energy transition in Asia under AZEC, a platform established under the leadership of Japan and Indonesia.
2. Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Lê Minh Khái , Viet Nam
At the meeting, the two sides agreed that Japan and Viet Nam will work together to advance bilateral efforts in a wide variety of fields under the new Japan-Viet Nam partnership, which was upgraded in 2023, including the creation of new industries, development of supporting industries, development of highly-skilled human resources, and energy cooperation under AZEC.
