Japan-Ukraine Public-Private Roundtable Held in Berlin, Germany State Minister Iwata delivers remarks and witnesses unveiling ceremony for cooperation documents

On Monday, June 10, Mr. Iwata Kazuchika, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, participated in the Japan-Ukraine Public-Private Roundtable held in Berlin, Germany, and delivered remarks stating that Japan will strongly support Ukraine in specifying Japan-Ukraine cooperation projects to be undertaken by private companies. In addition, he witnessed an unveiling ceremony for 23 new cooperation documents.
On Monday, June 10, the Japan-Ukraine Public-Private Roundtable was held in Berlin, Germany, hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Embassy of Japan in Germany. As representatives of the Government of Japan, State Minister Iwata as well as Mr. Takemura Nobuhide, State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Mr. Fukazawa Yoichi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting, while as representatives of the government of Ukraine, H.E. Ms. Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, and H.E. Mr. Shurma Rostyslav, Deputy Head of the Office of the President attended.
At the beginning of the roundtable, Prime Minister Kishida delivered remarks through a video message and stated that Japan will continue to support Ukraine by uniting public and private efforts for the reconstruction of the country. In addition, Dr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, Ukraine, delivered remark through a video message and expressed his appreciation for the technical assistance provided by the Government of Japan to Ukraine for the recovery and maintenance of energy and other infrastructure, his appreciation for Japan’s support from a humanitarian perspective, and his expectations for further cooperation with Japan.
State Minister Iwata also delivered remarks and stated that Japan will strongly support Ukraine by fortifying collaboration through bilateral cooperation projects to be undertaken by private companies and through specifying such projects, including a demonstration project at the level of 26 billion yen through the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the dispatch of public-private missions to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, and the establishment of the JETRO Kyiv office.
Moreover, as an effort to reconstruct Ukraine, an unveiling ceremony was held for 23 new cooperation documents between Japan and Ukraine in such fields as agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing, and State Minister Iwata witnessed the ceremony.
Furthermore, State Minister Iwata, State Minister Takemura, and Parliamentary Vice-Minister Fukazawa held a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Svyrydenko and Deputy Head Shurma. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the two sides welcomed the agreements made on the cooperation projects between private companies and exchanged views toward further cooperation.
Through these efforts, Japan will encourage the reconstruction of Ukraine and the early realization of its economic growth.
